I'm not sure if I'm gretchen-have-one-bad-day-a-week-girl or what, but yesterday was sort of the ick day of this week, and now all is so much better...Here's some randomness for ya...
Big is at home, snoozing in our freshly made up nest. He got in at 5 and is napping until dinner, with hopes that he can make it thru at least one episode of a dvr'd American Idol. Aim high, I always say. David's not sure he's feelin' it, Dog, because of the new judge, and the lack of bad singers. In fact, he didn't watch, but I'm sure he will soon, as Drama Girl and I assured him that the crazies were back in full force. Anyhoooo...it's nice to have all of us at home.
Drama Girl starts ski school tomorrow. Hopefully all the natural disasters have left the state of WA, and she and her little friend can learn to ski sans avalanche, flood, or volcano. I'm planning on taking my library book and finishing it, if i can--we have to be at the bus at 7:15 and don't get home till about 5, so I should have plenty of time to nurse a latte and my book after I get the girls all bundled, bound, and pointed in the right direction.
Last night I went to worship team (4 voices and a band) and choir with a headache and a nasty attitude. Worship team was loud (oh, the drummer--he is young and enthusiastic) and hammered my head ache, but after some ibuprofen and some rockin' out with this chosen fam, my 'tude improved. Muchly. Thank goodness! I think maybe my children were worried a troll had taken residence among us; but once again, getting together with a group of other misfits and sinners did my heart good. John writes about how we can all be critical of churches here and there, and we can. There is no way I can convince anyone to come to my (or any) church if they aren't willing to be one of the shitty sinners, saved by grace. But I can say, that for me...my life has been more rich, both because of who has served me and whom I have served.
An aside...well, it IS randomness, so maybe it fits. Our front door knob has been sheared off it's cylinder. You know how, in It's a Wonderful Life, Jimmy Stewart has to deal with that infernal ball on top of his banister? Picture a knob coming off in your hand. Same idea. We absolutely have to get a whole new knob/handle on both sides, etc. Of course this need occurred when my husband was out of the country. However, a friend of mine popped over right after church and looked at it. Being he's a m.a.l.e., I texted Big and gave him the scoop. You know what? Not only was my boyfriend completely thankful that I had taken steps to fix something while he was gone, he witnessed the body of Christ in action. He even told me, "I'm glad you can use your church resources while I'm gone.". Yeah...I do. No, I don't look at them as "church resources", but that's semantics.
Oh, one last happy, because...why not? I finally have started Drama's quilt for her beach house bed. Mind you, it's been in a pile for six months. Every time I walk by my sewing machine and see it in progress, I feel giddy as a school girl.
Oh, one more...for reals, I'm almost done. I'm making Cheryl's Chicken Spaghetti--part of my cook at home deal...Well, I'll let you know, but so far, the pre-eating (all the stuff on the spoon) is an excellent indication that we'll be lurrrrrving this dish.
TTYL! SDG!

I love you lots.
LOL!!! The pre-eating was one of the best parts of that recipe. We all loved it; I hope you guys do too!!
Your attitude is so PERFECT and I always get such a kick coming to your blog.I loved your comments about church! I tell people all the time--I go to church because I screw up all the time. You don't go because you--or the church--is perfect.
Have a wonderful, wonderful weekend!
Random thoughts are how I practically live my life so I enjoy reading randomness!!
Glad hubs is home...please keep praying for us..Adam still hasn't received a "call out" yet! For our good and HIS glory, right?!
Do you think my van people will accept that as payment?! ;)
I am loving the Idol this year..I guess bein' a singer and all I'm glad they're showing some better voices early on...I enjoy a good clown every now and then BUT so far I think it's gonna be a talented season!!
Have an awesome weekend, friend!
Ahh, the progress of a quilt. Not much in life beats that, lol. (I need to get cracking on mine...I was wanting to enter it in the fair this year.)
Glad you had help in your time of need with that doorknob and that hubs was able to witness that, because it truly is a wonderful thing...Christs followers walking the talk, helping each other out.
Fun template, funny Saturday morning hair (love that you showed that, can you please come move next door to me so the postman thinks I'm normal). Love random!
How did ski school go? That sounds like so much fun and something that will NOT happen around here - I want snow!
I hope you post pics of the quilt...I remember when my mom and I made one together (although, come to think of it, I am not sure that it is completely finished...hmmm...)
